“Free Qwen API” describes several different arrangements. Pick a specific host, model and account first. A free consumer chat session, free-to-build SDK and zero-priced inference are different things.
Four access arrangements to keep separate

Check the provider route
- Open the provider’s current Qwen API setup instructions and choose the required region.
- Read the billing and quota screen for your exact account. Record whether a trial expires and what happens when it ends.
- Copy the documented API base and exact model ID into the request builder. Do not infer a model ID from its marketing name.
- Run one small request and inspect the actual account charge. Stop on uncertainty before starting an automated batch.
Use a task with a clear failure condition
Use the fictional supplier quote from our quote-to-JSON guide. Keep the same fields and missing-value rules. If currency disappears, a price becomes text, or lead time is invented, the task has not passed simply because the API returned 200.
Use the local JSON checker to catch shape errors, then check values against the original text. The checker itself makes no model request and has no token cost.
Compare a hosted variant carefully
If using OpenRouter, open the exact model entry and confirm it is a real free variant. Follow the same-task comparison method; account for failures and output truncation instead of publishing a made-up leaderboard.
What this guide does not claim
No universal token allowance or permanent unlimited Qwen endpoint is asserted here. We have not supplied a current account-specific trial number or live inference benchmark. These are written steps; a recorded video walkthrough is not included in this release.

Check the site free API access and limits before trying to obtain a site key. The pool remains closed until availability and cost controls are verified. It is not a source of official provider keys.
